Split

In 293AD Roman emperpor Diocletian was the first inhabitant of Split. He buit his palace here for retirement and the walls of the palace remain here to this day.
The Peristyle which is the main open space in the palace and is surrounded by a colonnade of six columns, decorated with garlands, in the centre. On the eastern side of the Peristyle is a cathedral.


Grgur Ninski

Visitors to Split make a wish and 'Rub' the big toe on the statue of Grgur Ninski (Gregory of Nin), a Croatian religious leader from the 10th century, by the most famous Croatian sculptor, Ivan Mestrovic

Mestrovic Gallery which is housed in his summer residence which was completed in 1939 and designed by Mestrovic himself

Visit the fortress built on a hill in Klis, during the Ottoman wars in Europe. Located north east of Sloane and Split, near the eponymous mountain pass which is separated by the mountains Mosor and Kozjak at the altitude of 360m. Built to defend the region from the Turkish invasion

Solin developed on the location of ancient town of Salonae which was the capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia and the birthplace of Emperor Diocletian. There you may visit ancient ruins.
